Homework.

For my AP English summer assignment, I had to read three books. One of them being, Greek Mythology.
One story I came across, "Pyramus and Thisbe" moved me in the first paragraph.
It's beautiful how words can create such a vivid image in your mind, and how words can make you feel so many emotions.
I just really want to share some of this story, and can only hope you understand where I'm coming from when I say ta=hat these words are so moving, so full of passion and care.

"Once upon a time the deep red berries of the mulberry tree were white as snow. The change in color came about strangely and sadly. The death of two young lovers was the cause. Pyramus and Thisbe, he the most beautiful youth and she the loveliest maiden of all the East, lived in Babylon, the city of Queen Semiramis, in houses so close together that one wall was common to both. Growing up thus side by side they learned to love each other. They longed to marry, but their parents forbade. Love, however, cannot be forbidden. The more that flame is covered up, the hotter it burns. Also love can always find a way. It was impossible that these two whose hearts were on fire should be kept apart".

Reminders

Things will not always go as planned.
Things won't be perfect.
Things can't always be "your way".
There will always be mistakes, flaws, bumps in the road.
There will always be rough times, struggles, obstacles.
There will always be moments of frustration, feelings of giving up.

Go with the flow.
Let things happen naturally.
Allow things to fall into place.
Be optimistic about things.
Perfection shouldn't necessarily be ideal; more like striving for the absolute best it can possibly be.
Just know, that things will be okay.

Hidden.

Why do people assume?
Why do people jump to conclusions?
Why do people talk badly about others?
Why do people yearn for power and feeling superior?
Why do people tolerate rude and disrespectful people in their lives?

There are so many WHY questions.
Bottom line is: People crave for the juicy gossip.
People want to seem superior, powerful and seek attention when they talk about others, humiliate others, put others down.
People don't know when to stop, they don't understand what "crossing the line" means.
People think they're always right, ALWAYS, no doubt, and always strive to convince others that they know what they're talking about.
THIS WORLD IS FULL OF IGNORANT, COLD-HEARTED PEOPLE who do not think before they speak nor do they take others' feelings into consideration.

What can someone do?
There's not much one can do to completely stop all the hate, rumors, and gossip whether it's about themselves or others because there's always a chain reaction once someone opens their mouth. Also, it's hard to trace down who started the horrible and negative comments about a person especially if they're HIDDEN behind a computer screen which is like their barrier from reality, their barrier that allows them to feel superior and all high and mighty. BUT, there's so much YOU can do in order to keep moving along, keep going strong.

Regardless of what people say about you, regardless of what you hear, it's ultimately YOUR choice to listen, to take what they say to heart, to just brush it off and move on, to let it get the best of you, to say something. CLICHE, but it's true, you really do have that choice. I'm not here to tell you how to live your life, I'm just here blogging the night away. But I'd say that, you KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, KEEP MOVING FORWARD, and don't let a single word get to you. Because YOU ARE YOU. YOU KNOW YOU THE BEST. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'VE DONE, YOU KNOW YOUR LIFESTORY, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'VE FACED. No one else does regardless of what they say. YOU KNOW YOU like no other. NO ONE can tell you who you are. NO ONE can tell you what to do, how to live. NO ONE can narrate your life. NO ONE knows every little detail. PEOPLE SEE what you show them, but in the end, YOU don't just see who you are, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. SO if people are saying false things about you, F O R G E T them, because they're clearly making themselves look foolish by saying things that are unreal and definitely not true. WHAT DO THEY BENEFIT?! NOTHING, except feeling powerful, and making themselves feel good about themselves. They can feel that "power" but never let them become "powerful" over you. YOU ARE, a strong, independent individual who should not let anyone control your life, nor allow them to manipulate you. Don't let their spiteful and hateful words get the best of you especially if they're false and stupid. Don't let rumors and unwanted information change who you are, what you believe in, and how you want to live. In the end, it's your choice to let it get to you or not.

Your choice to BE YOU, or be who everyone else wants you to be.

Talent

It upsets me when people don't believe that they are talented.
Everyone is talented in their own original and unique way.
It's true that some may be more talented than others, but that does not cover up the fact that everyone is talented.
There are always those huge talents that are well focused on by society such as singing, dancing, being super athletic, acting, and so on. But really, there are so many different talents that anyone can possess. It can be a small talent such as organizing your room, making someone laugh, wrapping presents, sewing, and so on. There really is no true definition of "talent" because everyone has their own interpretation. To me, talent means that something someone is good at, and it's something that people actually enjoy doing. If you love to draw and paint, there's your talent. You can range from painting like Picasso (probably impossible) to drawing awesome stick figures, either way it's talent and it's your own unique way. You can range from singing like Adele to just belting your heart out in the shower, it's talent either way. You can range from being a professional dancer like the ones you see on "Dancing with the Stars" to dancing like crazy in your room (LOL) it's still talent. By now, I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from, and can see that talent has a wide range, and any normal task can be a talent. Don't ever say you are untalented, nor should you envy those who have a different talent from you. So what if you think their talent is "bigger or better", that's THEIR talent, not yours. You are you. You are different, you are unique, you are one of a kind, you are like no one else. Be yourself, don't try to be like others. You can have role models, people you look up to, and so on, but at the end of the day make sure you continue to be yourself, always remind yourself that you are talented in your own unique way. <3

Appreciation.

People always think they appreciate everything they have and everyone they know.
When in reality, "appreciation and appreciating" is quite overlooked.
People don't appreciate the little things in life.
In reality, the little things and all the minor details actually do matter.
I'm sure you're thinking "I am always appreciative" Really? Are you? Everyday? Sometimes? Or just on Thanksgiving?
YOU, the one who's reading this on a computer, phone, laptop, etc. are SO MUCH more fortunate than others in this world who probably have never really lived a life where there's constantly electricity.
Teens. Here we are constantly complaining day after day about how bored we are, how life sucks, how stressed we are, how we hate school, and just how everything just doesn't go our way.
I'm not going to lie, but I know for a fact that I've said all that ^^^^^
But, this post is here to say that I wanna change that, I want to have that "turning point" in my life where instead of complaining all the time, I become more optimistic about things and more appreciative of what I have, who I have, and that I am still here living and breathing. Of course there really is not promise to stop complaining about things, because well, that's just so natural and well, it's a bit unavoidable sometimes.
BUT, we can always contradict something like this by becoming more appreciative and noticing the minor things in life.
Here's some things that I believe should be appreciated, but I'm sure that people never really even think of this:
-The workers/cashiers at any store, fast food place, restaurant, etc.
-Construction workers, Electricians, Plumbers
-Public transportation drivers
-Clothes designers, merchandisers, and sellers
Yes, I know that's such a small list with a few examples. But REALLY, these people need to be appreciated. A little thank you, a smile, a compliment, or even something cliche or cheesy like a little note or something can make a difference in these peoples' lives. THEY'RE ORDINARY PEOPLE, HUMANS JUST LIKE YOU AND ME, who aren't really appreciated especially by people in our generation because we are so caught up with the materialistic part of this world.
-Image how hardworking the people are at a store, department store, fast food place or restaurant. They are constantly making sure that they satisfy the needs of the people, the shoppers. They are constantly facing rude, obnoxious people. They have to face working long and countless hours to earn a living, and to provide for themselves and their families. And here we are not cleaning up after ourselves at a food place, dropping items on the ground, taking clothes from different racks and not returning them to their original place. WHY? WHY DO WE DO THIS?! Usually it's unintentional and almost as if we're unconscious and not thinking when we do this, but this is where I would like to say we need to be more respectful and appreciative towards these people who clean up after us, when they really don't need to. These people tend to us without us even knowing. APPRECIATE THEM, do little actions that makes their lives easier such as returning your stuff and cleaning up after yourself. SOME OF YOU may think, "well isn't that their job anyways?" THAT IS SO IGNORANT, like seriously yeah it is their job but that doesn't mean we should act, think and be like that towards them.

Yes, I could go into more depth about each thing I listed above, but that could go on for days.
I just generally want to say, everyone needs to take their part in making this world a better place, by doing something as simple as being more respectful and appreciative towards the things and people around us.
It's really not asking for much, nor is it rocket science.
So think about, think about what you appreciate, and think about how you can appreciate things even more.
Appreciation is overlooked, but you can change that.

Reasons

Things happen for a reason.
Whether you like it or not.
Whether its a good thing or a bad thing.
Every single thing that happens, happens for a reason.
One just needs to accept that, take it in, and move on.
If something happens and you're upset about it, understand that it happened for some reason, and don't let it stop you from continuing to move forward.

1..2...3...gone

Opportunities.
They come, they go.
Once they're given to you, take action. If it's a great opportunity, one that will benefit you, benefit others, take on the opportunity. Don't just let it slip away and out of your control. That opportunity may never come back, and you just missed out.
Hesitant?
Hesitation is what causes people to not fully live.
In my opinion I feel like one lives a full life if they take on opportunities left and right, they are willing to take risks, to put themselves out there, to try something new, to live with no regrets.
Regardless of what the outcome is after you take that opportunity, at least you can say you tried. At least you can say you tried something new, you did something different, you lived.
Don't hesitate to take on something that can end up being the best thing in your life, if you end up not liking it, don't continue because it's never good to do something if you have no care, drive, motivation, or passion for it. Live the now, this is your chance to go out there and reach for the stars and to not hesitate when it comes to new opportunities and new chances.
